BORN HULL 1891. SON OF JOHN ELLIS & ELIZABETH CROSS TONG. BEFORE ENLISTING HE WORKED FOR THE BRITISH CAKE AND OIL MILL IN HULL. HE JOINED 4/9/1914. SERVED THREE YEARS AND TEN MONTHS IN FRANCE. DIED OF PNEUMONIA AFTER AN ATTACK OF INFLUENZA AT THE 3RD CANADIAN CLEARING STATION IN FRANCE. HE LEFT A WIDOW LAURA. LILLEY AT THIS ARMY ADDRESS. THERE ARE NO CWGC OR SOLDIERS DIED RECORDS. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 25TH FEBRUARY 1919, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
