Tranmer, William Henry

William Henry Tranmer

Born Hull 1884. Son of William (1865-1908) and Agnes Tranmer (1865-1953). He had four brothers and one sister, Agnes.

Husband of Gertrude Emma Simmons (1886-1970), of 45, Burleigh Street, Holderness Road, Hull (War Pension address). He was a factory labourer, living with his wife, at 11, Dorothy Avenue, Cornwall Street, Hull (1911 Census). They had two children, Arthur and Muriel who died aged 2. He was also a musician in a local band. He made the newspapers, when he rescued a 7 year old girl, who had tumbled into Queens Dock.

He enlisted at hull, joining the East Yorkshire Regiment. Posted to France, on 17/04/1915. Discharged on 21 Aug 1915, with Heart Disorder. Awarded the Silver War Badge. Died on 26/03/1918, aged 33.

His brothers, Arthur (1890-1952) and Alfred Tranmer (1895-1968) also served in the war. Both were awarded the Silver War Badge.
