Tripp, Arthur Allan

Born Parkhurst, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, 11/04/1882. Son of Arthur Tripp (1860-1936) and Frances Sarah Gibson (1873-1954). He had four brothers and seven sisters. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy. Served during the war, in the Royal Naval Reserve, on HMS Colleen.

He married Emily Peacock (1894-), at Hull in 1915. They had one son Henry Clark Peacock, born 05/10/1913

He died after being discharged from the Navy on 12/12/1917, aged 35. He is interred at the Isle of Wight, Hampshire.

His brother, Leonard Douglas Beaumont Tripp (1888-1919), served in the South Lancashire Regiment and died at Bangalore, Karnataka, India, on 19/04/1919, aged 30.

While there were no combat deaths on board H.M.S. Colleen, three of her crew were killed by enemy action on the R.M.S. Leinster on 10 October 1918. Signalman John Christy, Sick Berth Attendant, Arthur Eade and Yeoman of Signals Chief Petty Officer, Herbert Pilgrim appear to have been going on leave at the time the R.M.S.
