John Robert Trowell

BORN HULL 1886. ELDEST SON OF ROBERT TROWELL (1860-1934) AND CHARLOTTE ANN BUCK (1865-1952), OF 81, LABURNUM AVENUE, HULL. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER CALLED HILDA. HE WORKED AT THE RECKITT’S FACTORY AS A PACKER AND LABOURER, WITH HIS FATHER WHO WAS A FOREMAN AND HIS BROTHERS,  GEORGE, JAMES AND FRANK. HE RESIDED AT 10, CLARENCE AVENUE, KENT STREET, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 4TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIER. KILLED IN ACTION, 15/09/1916, AGED 28. BURIED AT  MIRAUMONT MILITARY CEMETERY, ON THE SOMME. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, ROBERT.
HE IS LISTED ON HULL’S, ST MARKS STREET MEMORIAL, WITH HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, PRIVATE, GEORGE TROWELL, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WHO WAS KILLED AT ARRAS, ON 23/04/1917, AGED 27.

HIS BROTHER JAMES TROWELL, SERVED WITH THE KING’S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS AND WAS DISCHARDED WOUNDED, ON 14/12/1917.
