HE ENLISTED IN THE 1/4TH EYR TERRITORIALS, ON 25TH NOVEMBER 1911, AGED 17 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS.
HE MARRIED FLORENCE ADA HOLMES (BORN 24/10/1894) ON 14/12/1914. THEY HAD ONE SON ROBERT WILLIAM, BORN ON 21/05/1915. THEY LIVED AT 4, EPWORTH GROVE, EPWORTH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 17/04/1915. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 25/04/1915, AGED 21. COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MENIN GATE MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.
HE HAD ONLY BEEN AT THE FRONT FOR A WEEK AND HIS SON WAS BORN A MONTH AFTER HIS DEATH.
HIS WIDOW REMARRIED AND BECAME MRS LOUMBE.
HE IS LISTED AS FALLEN ON THE EPWORTH ROLL OF HONOUR. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, 20/05/1916.
HIS NAME IS ALSO INSCRIBED ON THE PILLARS INSIDE ST ST MARY’S CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
