Pte, Alfred Tute, Highland Light Infantry

Born Hull 1898. Son of John William Tute (1855-1917) and Emma Eliza Tute (1863-1928), of 1, Filey Grove, Rhodes Street, Hull (CWGC address). Son of a Dock Labourer. He was employed as an apprentice bricklayer, for Bilton’s, Builder, Hull.

He enlisted in Hull. Joined as Private, 5117, East Yorkshire Regiment. Transferred to the Highland Light Infantry. Killed in action, on 09/04/1918, aged 20. Commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium. He was reported missing, in the Hull Daily Mail, on 01/07/1918. *

Unmarried. His army effects were left to his mother Emma. She moved to 7, Coronation Avenue, Newington Street, Hull (War pension address).
His brother, Albert Arthur Tute also died in 1918, aged 32. A double loss for his mother who had lost her husband the previous year.
