BORN HULL 1897. ELDEST SON OF ARTHUR & ALICE TWIDLE, OF 8 LOUISA’S TERRACE, FINSBURY STREET, HULL, AND THIS CWGC ADDRESS. SON OF A TANNER’S LABOURER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 13/12/1915. SERVED IN THE 335TH ROYAL ARMY SERVICE CORPS, ATTACHED TO THE 13TH HEAVY ARTILLERY CORPS. KILLED IN ACTION ON 19/10/1918, AGED 21. HE LEFT A FIANCEE FLORRIE – NORTHUMBERLAND AVENUE, HULL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM 29/10/1918. HIS IS BURIED AT BERTRY COMMUNAL CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH”.
HIS ONLY SIBLING, LANCE CORPORAL, FRANK STEWART TWIDLE, 201418, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, DIED A MONTH LATER, ON 27/11/1918, AGED 18. THEIR PARENTS HAD LOST BOTH SONS IN THE LAST MONTH OF THE WAR ENDING.
