Usher, Charles Brown

Born Leven, 1891. Son of Thomas William and Anne Eliza Usher, of Leven. Son of a Farm Labourer. Worked in the Civil Service, for the Post & Telegraph (Subpostmaster Assistant). Married at Sculcoates Hull, on 19/03/1911. Husband of Gertrude Huntsman and one son, also called Charles Bernard Usher. Resided at 5 Glebe Road, Brigg, Lincolnshire. Served two years with the 4th East Yorkshire Territorials up to 1914. Described as 5 foot 10 inches tall, 38-40 inch chest, 137 lbs weight. Called up on 25/09/1916. Posted to east Africa, on 29/04/1917. Served as a telegraphist, in the Royal Engineer, Base Signals Depot. Died of dysentery, at Mtama, East Africa, on 28/11/1917, aged 26.
