Henry Viner

BORN HULL 30/07/1881. SON OF GEORGE (1854-1926) & EUNICE VINER (1857-1919), OF 4 COLUMBINE TERRACE, VICTOR STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND SIX SISTERS. ENLISTED IN THE 3RD EYR ON 14/09/1900 AND SERVED AS A TERRITORIAL. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 9 INCHES TALL, 141 LBS WEIGHT, 35-37 INCH CHEST, BROWN EYES, BROWN HAIR.  IN CIVILIAN LIFE HE WORKED AS AN OIL MILL LABOURER. HE BOARDED WITH THE WENLOCK FAMILY, AT 88 VICTOR STREET, HOLDERNESS ROAD (1911 CENSUS). HE EMIGRATED TO CANADA ON 13/07/1913.

ENLISTED IN CANADA. CORPORAL, HENRY VINER, SERVED WITH THE 10TH CANADIANS (ALBERTA REGIMENT) AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON22/04/1915, AGED 33. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES (MENIS GATE) MEMORIAL.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 06/06/1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.
