A STUDENT, HE WAS EDUCATED AT HYMER’S COLLEGE, HULL, LIKE ALL HIS BROTHERS.
HE ENLISTED, ON 13/08/1917, AGED 18. HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM AS 5 FOOT 8 INCHES TALL, 124 LBS, 36 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, BROWN HAIR, FAIR COMPLEXION. TRANSFERRED TO ROYAL AIR FORCE, ON 01/04/1918. GIVEN A TEMPORARY COMMISSION, 17/05/1918. HE WAS KILLED FIVE MONTHS LATER AT CAMBRAI, ON 18/10/1918, AGED 18.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON HYMERS WW1 MEMORIAL & ST MATTHEWS CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 28/10/1918.
HE WAS ONE OF SEVEN BROTHERS WHO SERVED IN THE WAR, THREE OF WHICH DIED IN 1918. TWO TWIN BROTHERS, TROOPER, HAROLD WALKER, 1ST EAST RIDING YEOMANRY, DIED 19/06/1918 & LIEUTENANT, VICTOR WALKER, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 04/04/1918, AGED 24.
