Wallace, Alexander Bryson

BORN HULL 1896. SON OF JAMES WATSON WALLACE AND ELIZABETH WALLACE, OF 13 SACKVILLE TERRACE, FERRIES STREET, HEDON ROAD AND 40 NEWBRIDGE ROAD, HULL. ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. A BLACKSMITH BY TRADE. HIS WIFE ADA WALLACE LIVED AT 2 WINDSOR GARDENS, BRUNSWICK AVENUE, HULL, (CWGC ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 3/09/1914. FORMERLY, A PRIVATE, IN THE  7TH YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 9 INCHES TALL, 128 LBS, 35 INCH CHEST, BROWN EYES, BROWN HAIR AND FRESH COMPLEXION. SERVED IN FRANCE FROM 13/07/1915. TRANSFERRED TO THE ARMY SERVICE CORP ON 11/11/1917. HE WAS OFFICIALLY REPORTED KILLED IN ACTION, ON 9/09/1917 WHEN HIS MOTHER SUBSEQUENTLY RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HIM. HE ACTUALLY DIED AT HOME, AGED 21. BURIED AT HULL NORTHERN CEMETERY. HE LEFT £600 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOW, ADA.
