BORN NORTH SHIELDS, 16/02/1882. SON OF WILLIAM AND MARY ANN WALLACE.

HE MARRIED MARY JANE ALLINSON, IN NORTH SHIELDS REGISTRY OFFICE, ON 27/06/1904. HIS WIFE MARY JANE & SIX CHILDREN LIVED AT 31 AIRLIE STREET, HULL. A JOINER. HE PLAYED HALF BACK RUGBY FOR WEST HARLEPOOL BEFORE JOINING HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 06/12/1915, AGED 33 AND 10 MONTHS. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 14/10/1916. SERVED WITH THE 10TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. HE DIED AT ARRAS, ON 08/03/1917, AGED 35. BOTH PARENTS DECEASED. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND 6 CHILDREN. BROTHERS, ROBERT AND WILLIAM WALLACE, AND SISTERS, ELEANOR, LILY AND MARY IN NORTH SHIELDS. HIS WIDOW WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY PENSION OF 33 SHILLINGS AND NINE PENCE FOR HERSELF AND SIX CHILDREN.
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON ST MATHEWS CHURCH WAR MEMORIAL, BOULEVARD. HE IS ALSO COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
