BORN HULL 1891. SON OF JOHN THOMAS WALLER (1833-1892) & JANE ANN WALLER (1866-1945).

HE WAS EMPLOYED FOR MANY YEARS BY MR W. NICHOLSON, IRONMONGERS. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, IN SEPTEMBER, 1914. SERVED AS A FITTER IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. ABROAD FOR 15 MONTHS. AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL (MM) FOR BRAVERY. KILLED ON 27/05/1918, AGED 27.

HE MARRIED AT WHITBY IN MARCH 1916. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIFE, FLORENCE LOCKER (1889-1960) WHO LIVED AT 6, BOULBY BANK, CHURCH STREET, WHITBY.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE WHITBY GAZZETTE, ON 19/07/1918.

HE IS BURIED AT SEDAN-TORCY FRENCH NATIONAL CEMETERY, ARDENNES, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HE ANSWERED HIS COUNTRY’S CALL”
