BORN NORTON, YORKSHIRE 1899. SON OF HARRY WALTON & JANE HANNAH FISH (1872-1962), OF 8, BROOKLYN STREET, NEWLAND AVENUE, HULL AND 5 , ALBANY STREET, SPRING BANK, HULL (ARMY & WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD ONE YOUNGER BROTHER, LESLIE AND ONE SISTER, IDA WALTON.

HE ATTENDED LAMBERT STREET, COUNCIL SCHOOL. STUDIED AT THE HULL TECHNICAL COLLEGE, FOR FOUR YEARS. HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A CLERK, BY MESSRS RECKITTS & SONS, DANSOM LANE, HULL. HE WAS DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 33-35 INCH CHEST, 109 LBS WEIGHT, “FAIR” PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT, WESLEYAN RELIGION.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 8TH SEPTEMBER, 1916. CALLED UP FOR SERVICE, ON 17TH MAY 1917. TRAINED WITH THE 51ST KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY (GRADUATE RESERVES). POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 31/03/1918. TRANSFERRED TO “B” COMPANY, THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, 26 DAYS LATER, ON 25/04/1918, AGED 19. COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.

HIS NAME IS ALSO LISTED ON THE HULL TECHNICAL COLLEGE ROLL OF HONOUR.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 05/09/1919, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.

HIS FATHER REQUESTED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR SON’S DEATH, INCLUDING THE NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF MEN WHO SERVED WITH HIM. THE ARMY SUPPLIED THE NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF FOUR MEN FROM “B” COMPANY (ALL OUTSIDE HULL) WHO WERE TAKEN PRISONER AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH.
