BORN BOSTON, LINCS., 1889. ONLY SON OF EDWARD AND MARY ANN WARD. HE HAD SIX SISTERS. SKIPPER OF THE STEAM SHIP ‘DIPLOMAT’ TORPEDOED ON 15/02/1915. LOST WITH ALL HANDS, INCLUDING MATE, HERBERT GARDINER, FROM RIPON STREET, EAST HULL. AGED 25. HE LEFT A WIDOW, ALICE MAUD HORNBY. HIS DEATH AND ADDRESS WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES ON 27/02/1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *  NO CWGC RECORD OF HIS DEATH?
History Dissington Emma 21/08/2017 Diplomat, 1915, wreck has been found with traces of a German torpedo pieces in it off the Wash. SS Diplomat lost with all hands on 15th February 1915:
