Wardlow, Charles Albert

BORN HULL 1885. SON OF GEORGE WH WARDLOW AND EMMA WARDLOW, OF 54 SYMONS STREET, HULL. HIS FATHER WAS A FOREMAN OF A COTTON MILL (1901 CENSUS). HE WORKED AS A BAKER/ BREAD MAKER, BEFORE JOINING THE REGULAR ARMY. HE MARRIED FLOSSIE WHEATLEY, AT FARNHAM, IN 1905. ENLISTED HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1ST BATTALION, SCOTS GUARDS AS PART ON THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 13/08/1914. HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT GHELWELT ON 30/10/1914, AGED 29. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE MENIN GATE MEMORIAL. HE LEFT HIS WIDOW, FLOSSIE WARDLOW AT THIS ADDRESS..
