BORN HULL 1889. SON OF MRS SARAH ANN WATTS, OF 13, BLENHEIM TERRACE, NORFOLK STREET, HULL. A SINGLE MAN. HE HAD ONE BROTHER, GEORGE, AND THREE MARRIED SISTERS. HE WORKED FOR MR ROBSON, HAY MERCHANT, HESSLE ROAD, HULL,  AS A STRAW AND HAY TRUSSER. HE  BOARDED AT 12, ALFRED TERRACE, VAUXHALL GRIVE HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND THIS ARMY ADDRESS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3 INCHES TALL, 36 INCH CHEST, 138 LBS WEIGHT.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 06/04/1915. SERVED WITH THE HULL PALS IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 29/02/1916. HE WAS BURIED BY A SHELL EXPLOSION WITH THREE OTHERS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 01/04/1916, AGED 28. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 362 DAYS. HE IS BURIED ON THE SOMME.

HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER, SARAH ANN. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 10/04/1916.
