BORN HULL 1893. SON OF CHARLES ALFRED WEBSTER (1862-1943) & MARY HERD (1861-1939), OF 422 HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL. HE HAD A YOUNGER, BROTHER, STANLEY AND OLDER SISTER GERTRUDE, WHO BOTH LIVED AT HOME WITH THEIR PARENTS.

BORN HULL 1893. HE WORKED FOR HIS FATHER’S PLUMBER BUSINESS, AT THORNTON LODGE, HOLDERNESS ROAD. HE WAS WELL KNOWN IN FOOTBALL CIRCLES IN EAST HULL AND PLAYED FOR THE PROTOBELLO AFC.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 23/11/1915. DESCIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4.5 INCHES TALL, 120 LBS WEIGHT, 33-35 INCH CHEST. ATTACHED TO THE HULL RIFLES. HE TRANSFERRED TO THE 21ST KING’S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS. KILLED IN ACTION ON 17/09/1916, AGED 23. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 300 DAYS. UNMARRIED. HE LEFT £189 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING ON THE SOMME, FRANCE.

HIS DEATH WAS ALSO REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 18TH DECEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
