Webster, James Boynton

BORN EASTRINGTON 1898. SON OF ALBERT WEBSTER (1864-1916) & LYDIA BOYNTON (1867-1926). LIVED IN COTTINGHAM (1901 CENSUS), EASTRINGHAM (1911 CENSUS) & BEVERLEY. HIS FATHER WAS A POLICE CONSTABLE, WHO ALSO DIED IN 1916. HE HAD A YOUNGER BROTHER, GEORGE AND THREE SISTERS, ELIZABETH, LILIAN AND ELEANOR.

ENLISTED HULL. KILLED IN FRANCE, ON 14TH NOVEMBER 1916, AGED 18. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS MOTHER, LYDIA.

HE IS BURIED AT CITE BONJEAN MILITARY CEMETERY, ARMENTIERES, NORD, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “CHERISHED MEMORIES OF ONE SO DEAR” HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THORNGUMBOLD WW1 VILLAGE MEMORIAL, WHERE 65 MEN SERVED AND 9 DIED.
