Webster, John Alfred

Born Welwick, East Yorkshire, on 27/03/1893. Son of John Thomas Webster (1858-1924) and Elizabeth Dobson, of Hull Road, Easington. Son of a shepherd. He had two sisters, Agnes and Edith and one brother, Allen Webster. He worked as a Farm Hand.

He enlisted in West Hull. Posted to France, on 24/08/1915. Served as Gunner John Alfred Webster, 64054, ‘B’ Battery, 174th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action, on 11/09/1917, aged 24. Buried at La Clytte, West of Ypres. His army effects were left to his eldest sister, Miss Agnes Webster.

He is commemorated on the Easington WW1 Memorial, East Yorkshire.
