WORKED AS A FARM HAND IN WEST ELLA WITH HIS UNCLE (1911 CENSUS). MOVED TO ASHBOURNE, DERBYSHIRE.

ENLISTED STOKE ON TRENT. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL, 2/6TH NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 21/03/1918, AGED 22.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFTTO HIS FATHER, HENRY WELBOURNE.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL. AND THE ETTON VILLAGE MEMORIAL CROSS, EAST YORKSHIRE.
