BORN LONDON 1871. WIFE LORRIE HARRIET WESTON LIVED AT THIS CWGC ADDRESS. HE WAS PRESUMED DROWNED ON 03/01/1916, AGED 45. HIS WIFE DIED ON 22/10/1918. THEIR DAUGHTER EDITH ALICE DIED 24/10/1918. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 17TH FEBRUARY 1916 WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
Malabar was a 171 GRT steam trawler, completed in 1903 by Cook, Welton & Gemmell Ltd. for Hull Steam Fishing & Ice Co. Ltd. and registered at Hull as H.754.
The Malabar left Hull for the fishing grounds on 20th Dec 1915 and on the 27th Dec 1915 she was posted as missing after a period of severe weather, she was officially given up as lost on 19th January 1916 – possibly due to enemy action.
