Born Cherry Burton, 1883. His wife, Edith and daughters Elsie and Betsie, lived at 3, Northumberland Avenue, Hull (CWGC address). A farm foreman and ex Blundell’s paint worker. Enlisted Hull. Formerly, Private, 204752 EYR. he transferred to the 7th Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds, 03/06/1918, aged 35.

His name is recorded in Hull’s Holy Trinity memorial book.

BURIED AT AUCHONVILLERS MILITARY CEMETERY, SOMME, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HE DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE FROM HIS LOVING WIFE AND CHILDREN”
