BORN HULL 1889. ELDEST SON OF WALTER AND MARY WHITTLETON, OF 62 , HAVELOCK STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS) & 39 SCARBOROUGH STREET, HESSLE ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS WHO ALL LIVED ON HESSLE ROAD.
A SINGLE MAN. EMPLOYED AS A TANNER’S LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6.5 INCHES TALL, 35-37 INCH CHEST, 133 LBS WEIGHT, “FAIR” PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT, BAD TEETH, MODERATE VISION.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 10/12/1915. CALL UP FOR SERVICE, ON 29/2/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 2/2/1915. SERVED IN THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WOUNDED AND CAPTURED, ON 22/3/1918. DIED A PRISONER OF WAR, ON 29/09/1918, AGED 29. BURIED IN FRANCE.
