HE ENLISTED IN SPILSBY, LINCS., ON 09/02/1916. MARRIED, OLIVE EDITH VINNICOMBE, OF HESSLE, IN 1916. THEY HAD ONE DAUGHTER, BEATRICE JANE, BORN 31ST OCTOBER 1916.
SERVED WITH THE 7TH LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT, IN FRANCE AND FLANDERS, FROM 06/09/1916, AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/08/1918, AGED 27. HE WAS KILLED AT MARTINPUICH, AND COMMEMORATED ON THE VIS EN ARTOIS MEMORIAL, FRANCE.
PRIVATE WHYDLE WAS A REMARKABLE RUNNER AND HELD THE MARATHON CUP AND OTHER PRIZES FOR FLAT RACING.
HE LEFT A WIDOW, OLIVE EDITH WHYDLE AND DAUGHTER, BEATRICE, AT 9 KINGS LANE, HESSLE (WAR PENSION ADDRESS)..
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE HESSLE ROLL OF HONOUR, ALL SAINTS PARISH CHURCH. HE IS ALSO LISTED IN THE DE RUVIGNY ROLL OF HONOUR, VOLUME 4.
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, ARTHUR WHYDLE, RASC, DIED ON 07/12/1918, AGED 33.
