Wigglesworth, Reginald Norman

BORN HULL 1896. ELDEST SON OF JAMES WIGGLESWORTH (1875-1938) & EDITH HELENA RICKABY (1873-1949), OF 89, MERSEY STREET, HULL, 86, NEW BRIDGE ROAD, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 235, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

SON OF A BUTCHER. ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. EMPLOYED AS A BUTCHER’S ASSISTANT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, NOVEMBER 1915.  SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST RIDING YEOMANRY. POSTED TO THE MIDDLE EAST. KILLED IN PALESTINE, ON 13/11/1917, AGED 21. SHOT FROM HIS HORSE WHILE CHARGING A TURKISH REDOUBT AT THE BATTLE OF EL MUGHAR. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 6TH DECEMBER 1917.

UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO BOTH PARENTS. HE IS BURIED AT RAMLEH WAR CEMETERY, ISRAEL.
