ENLISTED HULL, ON 16/03/1918. DESCRIBED AS SIX FEET TALL, 153 LBS WEIGHT, 36.5 INCH CHEST, BROWN HAIR AND GREY EYES. JOINED THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION IN ITALY, ON 28/10/1918, AGED 18.

UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS PARENTS. HE LEFT SIBLINGS, ALBERT, FLORENCE AND GLADYS AT 48 PERRY STREET.
HIS NAME IS REMEMBERED ON ST MATTHEWS CHURCH WW1 MEMORIAL, BOULEVARD, HULL.

HE IS BURIED AT GIAVERA BRITISH CEMETERY, ARCADE, ITALY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “A GOOD & FAITHFUL SON HULL.”
