Wilkinson, Douglas Leslie

Born Scunthorpe, 1891. Son of Albert Edward Wilkinson (1867-1925) and Elizabeth Ann Coates (1867-1949), of 13, Gilliatt Street, Scunthorpe. He had two brothers and three sisters. An Army Reservist. Worked as a Greaser (1911 Census).

He enlisted in Hull. Served with the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment that arrived in France, on 5th Sept 1914.

On 20 Oct 1914, the 1st Battalion, The East Yorkshire Regt., engaged the enemy at Prémesques, just west of Lille, France. Douglas was killed in this action, he is has no known grave but is remembered on Panel 4 at PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL, HAINAUT, Belgium
