BORN HULL 1880. ONLY SON OF JOHN WILLIAM WILSON AND MARY ANN WILSON, 24 SYMONS STREET, FOUNTAIN ROAD, HULL. HE LEFT FOUR SISTERS, MARY, MARGARET, AGNES AND ROSE.

HE MARRIED, AMELIA HESLEWOOD, ON 03/09/1914, AT ST CHARLES’ BORROMEO CATHOLIC CHURCH, HULL. HIS WIFE ‘MILLIE’ WILSON LIVED AT 19, CHARLES TERRACE, DERBY STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS), WITH CHILDREN, MARGARET AND JAMES.

BEFORE THE WAR HE WORKED AS A TANNER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 08/04/1916. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 13/07/1916. WOUNDED IN THE ARM AND HAND, AT OPPY WOOD, ON 03/05/1917. WOUNDED AGAIN DURING THE GERMAN SPRING OFFENSIVE MARCH 1918. DIED OF GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE LUNG, ON 23/03/1918, AGED 38. SOME OF HIS PERSONAL EFFECTS INCLUDED A ROSARY AND CRUCIFIX, WHICH WERE RETURNED TO HIS WIDOW, MILLIE.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, AT ST CHARLES BORROMEO CHURCH, JARRATT STREET, HULL
