SON OF A BRICKLAYER. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. WORKED AS A GAS FITTER, FOR THE BRITISH GAS LIGHT AND COKE COMPANY, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS (TERRITORIALS). DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 27/06/1917, AGED 23.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, ELLEN ANN.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE RAMC MEMORIAL WENLOCK BARRACKS, HULL. ALSO LISTED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL AT ST JOHNS CHURCH, NEWLAND, HULL
