Wilson, Mark Adamson

BORN HULL 1891. SON OF MARK AND ANNIE WILSON AT 13 NELLIES TERRACE, GILLETT STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). ONE OF THREE SONS KILLED IN THE WAR. A FORMER FISH WORKER. HIS MOTHER WAS DECEASED AND HE LEFT SISTERS, MARY AND ELEANOR AND OLDER BROTHER HARRY.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS 23/11/1914. HE WAS 5 FOOT 4 INCHES TALL AND OF ‘GOOD’ BUILD. HE SERVED IN EGYPT. ARRIVED FRANCE ON 08/03/1916. ON 10/4/1916 WAS AWARDED 21 DAYS FIELD PUNISHMENT NO;1 FOR REFUSING TO OBEY AN ORDER AND USING OBSCENE LANGUAGE.TO AN NCO. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION 13/11/1916, AGED 25. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS FATHER MARK ON HESSLE ROAD.
HIS BROTHERS, DECK HAND,  HERBERT WILSON AND PRIVATE, GEORGE WILSON WERE BOTH KILLED IN 1915.
