Winson, Edgar

BORN PAULL 1889. RESIDED & ENLISTED IN HULL. SON OF THOMAS DALLY WINSON (1842-1916) AND ELIZA YAXLEY (1846-1938)

BEFORE THE WAR HE WORKED AS A BUTCHER. LIVING AT 7, FLEET STREET, STEPNEY LANE, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HE MARRIED, LAVINIA ROSE PICKARD, AT HULL, IN 1913. THEY HAD ONE DAUGHTER, MURIEL, BORN ON 16/12/1913.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 10TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS SHOT THROUGH THE HEAD BY A GERMAN SNIPER. DIED 11/12/1915, AGED 26.

HIS ARMY AFFECTS WERE LEFT HIS WIDOW,  “ROSE” AND ONE CHILD, AT 6, HERNBOROUGH BUILDINGS, NEW GEORGE STREET, HULL (PENSION LEDGER ADDRESS).

HIS WIFE MARRIED, DRUMMER, WILLIAM MORRIS, LEICESTER REGIMENT.

EDGAR WINSON’S DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 23RD DECEMBER 1915. *

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE DANSOM LANE MEMORIAL & ON THE WILMINGTON ROLL OF HONOUR, HULL. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING
