BORN DRAX, YORKSHIRE, 01/11/1894. SON OF HERBERT WILLIAM WOOD (1862-1947) & AGNES WOODALL, AT 10, ASH GROVE, TUNIS STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION AND CWGC ADDRESS). SON OF A RAILWAY LABOURER. HE HAD ONE BROTHER AND FOUR SISTERS. WORKED AS A HULL & BARNSLEY RAILWAY PORTER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 25/11/1915, AGED 21. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 7427, NOTTS & DERBY REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE MACHINE GUN CORPS, ON 23/01/1917. WOUNDED IN THE FIELD, ON THE 16/12/1917, BUT REMAINED ON DUTY. WOUNDED AGAIN ON 22/03/1918, DYING LATER THE SAME DAY, AGED 23.

HE IS BURIED AT GREVILLERS BRITISH CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.
UNMARRIED. HE LEFT SISTERS, FLORENCE FORD, ETHEL WHITEHAED, ANNIE ALLEN, AND AGNES FRYER, AND BROTHER, GEORGE.
