HE ENLISTED IN HULL. EX 4/16826, 61ST TRAINING BATTALION. TRANSFERRED TO THE 10TH KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. DIED OF WOUNDS, AT THE ST JOHNS AMBULANCE HOSPITAL, ETAPLES, ON 07/02/1918, AGED 32. HE LEFT £272 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOW, KATE AT THIS PROBATE ADDRESS.

HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, IN FRANCE, READS, “A LOVING HUSBAND FAITHFUL AND KIND TOO DEARLY LOVED TO BE FORGOTTEN”
