BORN HULL 1892. ELDEST SON OF THOMAS EDWIN WOODMANCEY (1868-1928) & GERTRUDE MARIA WOODMANCEY (1869-1940), OF THIS ADDRESS. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. A FISH DOCK LABOURER. HE LIVED WITH HIS PARENTS. LOST WHEN THE ‘KESTREL’ SANK IN A COLLISION WITH THE GRIMSBY TRAWLER ‘HYDRA’, ON 21/02/1915, AGED 22. SEVEN LIVES WERE LOST. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE PRINTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 23RD FEBRUARY 1915. *

On 21/02/1915 the Hull steam trawler KESTREL (H318) sank following a collision with the s.s. HYDRA 75 miles ENE from the Spurn Lightvessel, in the North Sea.
