BORN HULL 1899. FOURTH SON OF JOHN WILLIAM WOODMANSEY (1860-1937) & ELIZABETH WOODMANSEY (1866-1953), OF 6, WELLINGTON STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS.) THE FIFTH OF SIX CHILDREN. AT THE AGE OF TWELVE, HE WON A SCHOLARSHIP FROM SALTHOUSE LAND SCHOOL TO ATTEND HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL, LEICESTER STREET, FOR FOUR YEARS. HE WORKED IN THE OFFICES OF RECKITTS. HE REGULARLY ATTENDED QUEENS HALL, WAS A TEACHER IN THE SUNDAY SCHOOL AND SECRETARY OF THE FOREIGH MISSIONARY SOCIETY.

HE ENLISTED ON 3RD SEPTEMBER 1916. ARRIVED IN FRANCE ON 03/08/1917. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/10/1917, AGED 19. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JOHN WILLIAM WOODMANSEY. HE LEFT FIANCE DORIS KEYWORTH. HE ALSO LEFT FAMILY, WILLIAM, HAROLD, JOHN, PERRY AND ETHEL. HIS BROTHERS JOHN AND HAROLD ALSO SERVED IN THE WAR.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL WAR MEMORIAL. HE IS COMMEMORATED AT TYNE COT CEMETERY, BELGIUM.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 13/11/1917.
