BORN HULL 1893. AKA ‘TOMMIE’. SON OF ROBERT WILLIAM EDWARD WOODWARD (1848-1918) & MARIA WOODWARD, OF 1 SYLVESTER GROVE, BEAN STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). EMPLOYED AS A SUGAR BOILER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 14/09/1914. SERVED WITH THE 12TH EAST YORKSHIRES IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. TRANSFERRED AND PROMOTED TO SERGEANT IN THE 3RD EYR. THE FOLLOWING DAY, HE WAS DISCHARGED WITH A HEART DISORDER, ON 28/05/1915, AFTER 258 DAYS SERVICE. HE DIED ON THE 18/09/1916, AGED 23. BURIED IN HULL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE  HULL DAILY MAIL
