BORN HULL 1887. ONLY SON OF JOHN WILLIAM WRAY (1863-1909) AND SARAH JANE WRAY, OF 9 ABBEY CRESCENT, FOUNTAIN ROAD, HULL. HE HAD FOUR SISTERS.

A HULL POSTEMAN AND HULL POST OFFICE WORKER FOR 18 YEARS.

MARRIED AT ST MARY’S SCULCOATES, ON 18/9/1913. HIS WIFE SARAH ELIZABETH THOMPSON, LIVED AT 27, VERMONT CRESCENT, WORTHING STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD NO CHILDREN.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 27/10/1915. JOINED THE 146TH HULL BATTERY IN OCTOBER 1915. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 18/6/1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION AFTER RETURNING FROM HOME LEAVE A WEEK BEFORE.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 2ND DECEMBER 1918, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
