BORN HULL 1893. SECOND SON OF MARIA HITCHIN (1865-) & HENRY FISHER WRIGHT (1865-1954), OF 43, LINNAEUS STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) & 16, MARLBOROUGH AVENUE, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). SON OF A COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER, EDNA.

STANLEY WAS EMPLOYED AS A FITTER’S APPRENTICE (1911 CENSUS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. HE WAS COMMISSIONED INTO THE ROYAL FLYING CORPS. AWARDED THE MILITARY CROSS FOR GALLANTRY. DIED ON 24/10/1917, AGED 25.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE HULL TECHNICAL COLLEGE MEMORIAL.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS FLYING SERVICES MEMORIAL, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.

HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, HARRY GORDON WRIGHT (1895-1984), SERVED IN THE ROYAL ENGINEERS, DURING THE WAR AND LIVED AT 30, BANK STREET, HULL.
