He enlisted in Hull. Formerly 5511, Yorkshire Regiment. transferred to the 1st 4th (Hallamshire) (T.F.) Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment. Killed in action, on 09/10/1917, aged 29. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
