Wrightham, John Henry

Born Grimsby 1900. Son of John William Wrightham (1868-1947) and Jane Eliza Balch (1868-1941), of 14 Somerset Terrace, Gillette Street, Hull (War Pension address). Son of a Cooper. He had four brothers and one sister.

Enlisted Hull. Served with the 5th King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Killed in action, on 12/09/1918, aged 18. He is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. Unmarried. His army effects were left to his father, John. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 05/02/1919. He is the only “Wrightham” listed in CWGC records.

His elder brother, George Edward Wrightham, had died in Grimsby, in 1915, aged 19. His younger brother, Aircraftsman, Thomas William Wrigham, RAF, was killed in the Second World War, on 26/04/1943, aged 36.
