Frederick Wyer was born in Hull, on 5th January 1884. His father, was Frederick Wyer (1858-1926), born in Norfolk and his mother, Lucy Weldon (1858-1884) was born in Cambridgeshire. His father was a fish merchant and later a warehouseman for a shipping merchant. Fred had one brother Albert Wyer (1886-1972).
Frederick Wyer (Junior) married Charlotte Pottage (1882-1944) at St Thomas’ Church, Hull, on 23 May 1904. They had two children during their marriage, Albert (1904-1977) and Gilbert (1909-1915). When he married he was working as a joiner and living at 77, Wellsted street, Hull. Charlotte was living nearby at 157, Coltman Street, Hull.
He then worked like his father as a Warehouse man and was living at 7, Roxburgh Street, Hull (1911 Census).
He enlisted in Hull. Served as Private, 44755, Royal Army Medical Corps and as Acting Corporal, 7251311, Royal Army Medical Corps. His army record address was 86, Belvoir Street, Hull. He was posted abroad, on 17th May 1915 and served in Egypt and Iraq and was then posted to France.
After the war he worked as Grocer’s Warehouseman, living at 5, Cranbourne Street, Hull (1939 Census).
During WW2, he served as an Air Raid warden. He died on 22 February 1954 in Hull, Yorkshire, at the age of 70.
