BORN HULL 1/4/1886. SON OF CHARLES & ANNA WYSTHOFF OF NORWAY AND HULL. HIS WIFE FLORENCE SIMPSON WYSTHOFF LIVED AT THIS ADDRESS. HE WAS LOST AT SEA ON THE TRAWLER LUCKNOW WHICH WAS MINED 2 MILES FROM PORTSMOUTH ON 18/05/1917. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE CHATHAM NAVAL MONUMENT, KENT, AND LOCALLY ON THE WALKER STREET WAR MEMORIAL.
Lucknow, built by Cook, Welton & Gemmell, Beverley in 1903 and operated at the time of her loss by Royal Navy, was a British navy trawler of 171 tons. On May 18th, 1917, Lucknow was sunk by a mine from the German submarine UC-36 (Gustav Buch), off Portsmouth, 2 miles west of the Owers lightvessel. 9 persons were lost. PEOPLE ON BOARD HMT LUCKNOW
