Yerrell, John William

Born Spalding, Lincolnshire, 26 Aug 1887. Son of John and Emily Yerrell of Spalding, Linces. A farm boy. He joined the Royal Navy, on 7 Aug 1903. Served for 12 years.

Husband of Nellie Yerrell, of 1, Joseph’s Place, Lower Union Street, Hull (CWGC adreess)

He enlisted in Hul when war began. Served in the 2nd Princess Louise’s (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders). Died of wounds, on 02/04/1915, aged 26, at the No:19 Field Ambulance. Buried at Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, France. His grave reads, SAFE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS

His army effects were left to his widow, Ellen
