BORN HULL 1887 SON OF SAMUEL GLOVER CAMPION (1854-1930) & MARY ANNIE OLIVER (1861-1925), LIVING AT 7 WALLER STREET AND 3 BALFOUR STREET, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL. SON OF A FISH DEALER. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN, INCLUDING SIX SONS. THREE DIED IN THE WAR. THE BROTHERS WORKED ON THE HULL DOCKS AND RAILWAYS. A RAILWAY SHUNTER AND PORTER. WORKING AT HULL STATION.

HE MARRIED ESTHER MOORES IN 1909. THEY HAD A SON, GEORGE, BORN IN 1909 AND THREE DAUGHTERS, BEATRICE, EDITH AND LILIAN. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A GUNNER, 232636, IN THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 21/10/1917, AGED 29. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ESTHER.

HIS BROTHER, HERBERT CAMPION, RAMC, LIVED AT 115 CONSTABLE STREET, HULL. HIS OTHER BROTHER, PRIVATE, JOSEPH STANLEY CAMPION, 242283, 1/5TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS (TERRITORIALS) WAS KILLED ON 14/11/1916, AGED 20. ANOTHER BROTHER, PRIVATE, WALTER CAMPION, 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS WOUNDED AT SERRE, AND DIED A PRISONER OF WAR , ON 15/11/1916, AGED 24.
